Youth Apprenticeships

Internships

Students are hired to work in real jobs in real companies

Short-term work experience offered to students by a company

Apprenticeships give chance to earn while learning

Internships give a chance for students to learn before earning

Students are trained under an industry mentor to master the skills needed by an employer to fill a job within their company

Students get entry-level exposure to  a particular industry or field

Students start getting paid from day 1

Not always paid

Students receive on-the-job training along with classroom instruction

Students try out different parts of the job by learning from professionals

For students who already know in which profession they want to work

For students to figure out what they do or don’t want to do

At the end of apprenticeships, students are offered a full-time job with the company

Internships don’t always lead to full time positions

At the end of apprenticeship, students earn a nationally recognized industry certificate issued by the Department of Labor.

Students are not guaranteed any certification at the end of the program
